A Regime of Peace and Terror

Excerpt from a conversation with a friend on facebook:
two opposing views on Philippine Martial Law, posted today,
over a plate of noodles, 43 years after it was declared by
former President Marcos.

    • Maylene O. Rapadas  how sad ala chicharon

    • Maylene O. Rapadas no senate too, im a martial law baby and comparing notes, bakit feeling o ms matino buhay noon, mas disiplinado tao, bihira krimen, masakit sabihin pero
a nating gumanda nga at umaayos na pinas?

  • ArlenKali Fuentes ...bago naupo c Marcos mataas ang ranking ng pinas economically, after 20 years under his one man rule, saan tayo pinulot....saan kaya tayo ngayon kung MARCOS PA RIN!?

  • Maylene O. Rapadas eh nasaan ba tayo ngayon?, sa tingin ko po mas malala, kung noon, iisa ang pinagagalingan ng rule of law, ngayon???? mismong mga nagpaptupad ay mas masahol pa sa kriminal, nun kung corrupt at magnanakaw man ang marcoses contained dahil pamilya lang nila, eh ngayon, bihirang politiko ang walang kick back, walang nanakawin sa kaban bayan, what sucks is people think its ok....... at nakatanim na mas malala??? nga ba talaga ang mga marcoses o ang situasyon natin ngayon??? we were well respected then, we had jet fighters then, we had people walking at night not fearing , rape, drug addicts, saksakin, pagtripan barilin, riding in tandem, worst di ka na makauwi dahil patay ka na.

  • ArlenKali Fuentes "the land of 50 million cowards and one son of a bitch", iyan ang tawag sa atin ng mundo at that time, definitely we are not respected. insurgency flourished in marcos era, because of much abuses by the cronies and the military. yeah, tahimik at that time, nakakatakot na katahimikan. sa main road papuntang olongapo at that time ay may babaing patay sa kalsada, nakahubad, ilang araw nang naroon, wlang naglalakas loob na magtanong at makialam kung bakit.

  • Maylene O. Rapadas hmmmm sounds like even then we have been manipulated by media and other foreign countries, which is both a curse and a blessing, but really comparing then and now???? are we really "freer" now??? are we safer???, are we more economically better???.....i dont think so. .... i have conversed with old foreigners who have been follwoing Philippine politics, talked with one old very Korean congressman, who told me that Koreans went to our country to work not the other way around, his comment and comparing the then and the now Philippines and enumerating the leaders weve all had ? we are worser and i believe them

  • ArlenKali Fuentes you have the freedom to believe what you want to believe, it's your freedom. Is there a price for freedom? Freedom is inherent in every person, one of the most precious gifts from God, even God's love is based on freedom. You cannot compare a hearsay from a factual experience. "never trust a politician" a wiseman say; and an ungodly foreign politician could be more untrustworthy than the so-called godly buwaboys. But we see the world in different perspective and sometimes we believed what we want to believe regardless of whether it's the truth or not. i rest my case:-).... let me eat my VEGAN PALABOK dear friend.

  • Maylene O. Rapadas  i dont go "friending" "ungodly" people my friend, i go to the old for wisdom and reason, to my agemates for friendship, camaraderie and the sense of family, to the young for fresh set of eyes  love my country as much as any Filipino who really does, does. Go ahead eat , ill try to find that vegan recipe, but ill still love my bacon in the morning
